Central Florida in April

There is always something to do or see in central Florida. The only reason a person would be bored living here is they have too artificial an entertainment paradigm. For us, this April was one of those pick-and-choose months. We couldn't do everything and get anything else done. Here are some of the highlights which caught our attention.

The month began with a special stage presentation promoting the work of Lighthouse Ministries where Judy serves as a tutor and I teach a class and serve as a mentor.

Then, in rapid succession, the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport featured its annual Sun 'n Fun weekend extravaganza and, then, hosted the second annual Ice Cream Festival.

Less extravagant items of interest included the appearance of this year's at Lake Morton in Lakeland.

On the home front, we had a hawk couple move into a tree just across the road from our house.

Our son and daughter-in-law (Joseph and Kalyn) joined us in Lake Placid, FL, to inspect the growing collection of store wall murals. Judy and I plan to go back in a few weeks to see the fields of caladium.
Sometimes we head out Tampa way. This month we enjoyed a concert at the Clearwater Christian College west of Tampa, and an introduction to the Tampa Ray's baseball stadium in St. Petersburg. They won that night.

Just off the main route through the little known city of Wauchula, FL, we were introduced to Paul's Kitchen. Excellent place to stop for a meal big enough for a couple to share one order. Yep, they're on Facebook. After that, we traveled a little outside of Wauchula for a performance of a dramatic musical production of "The Story of Noah".

Then we wrapped up the month with our Rejoicers Group from Fellowship Baptist, and a visit to the Lipizzen training stables near Myakka City, Florida. The Disney movie about the ancestors of these particular horses at the end of World War 2 is still available.

No Sirree, there's no good reason to be bored hereabouts.
