[A
Tuesday / Thursday Variety Feature of the First Road Blog]
Last night, in our Junior High Bible Time, we talked about how
strangers become best friends, and we related it to how, for most of us, Jesus
is a stranger when first we meet him. Even if we trust him early on, there is
so much about him we don't know; and often our trust is based on the
recommendation of others whom we trust.
We began with the healed blind man desiring to know who the Son of God is and discovering he was speaking with him. Then we spoke about becoming familiar, developing trust, showing genuine
loyalty, and being available. And we highlighted the difference between
friendship between people and the friendship relationship we have with Jesus
Christ (John 15:13-17). To what degree has our life grown in that combination of friendship and worship described in the stanza: You're my friend, and you are my brother, even though you are a King. I love you more than any other, so much more than anything.
On the friendship of people with people, we wrapped up the evening
with this story from the news in 2012. On a spiritual plane, it is wonderful
when a stranger becomes a friend and we discover we are brothers in Christ.
Wow! Part of the same family. Totally wondersome.
